(IANS) A trailer used by late actress Elizabeth Taylor on the sets of 1963 movie "Cleopatra", is set to go under the hammer.
The heavily-customised Aljo dressing room/trailer cost moviemakers at Twentieth Century Fox a reported $75,000 so that the actress could prepare for takes surrounded by the opulence of ancient Egypt.
The trailer boasts of lavender carpeting, hand-painted ceilings and murals, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
"This special hideaway was designed to make the star feel like the Queen of Egypt and epitomises the epic extravagance of Cleopatra, the last of the old guard Hollywood films," a spokesman for auction house Profiles in History said.
The trailer is likely fetch $50,000 to $75,000 at the auction.
The items in the trailer also include Taylor's gold ceremonial dress and the original poster art for the movie.
The yesteryear beauty queen and legend of Hollywood Elizabeth Taylor (79) passed away on Wednesday evening in Cedar-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. The two-time Academy Award winner died “peacefully” after being treated for congestive heart failure, a condition with which she had struggled for many years.
Though, she had recently suffered a number of complications, her condition had stabilized and it was hoped that she would be able to return home. But, unfortunately she breathed her last on Wednesday. Taylor was an industry legend, branching her talents into multiple fields including acting, modeling and, later, humanitarian efforts. But she’ll be remembered for her celebrity. At a time when access to Hollywood elite was protected, Taylor shone brighter than almost any star.

To begin with, has the Censor Board clipped any part of Elizabeth: The Golden Age?
I promise you that even if they did, the people I am working with won't tell me. They know that if anything is being clipped, I will go with a sword and not let it get released. So I hope nothing like that is being done.
The infamous Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan battle continues and this time seems like its King Khan who is on the losing end.
After Salman apparently refused to attach the trailer of Don 2 with Bodyguard, his rival SRK is left with no choice but to release the second trailor of the film with his home production Ra.One, releasing in Diwali.
Director Farhan Akhtar announced this by tweeting, "For all those inquiring... Don 2 second trailer will be out with Ra.One... in 2D and 3D (sic)." The first teaser was released with Farhan's Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.
One does not know how aware people around the world are about Indian music, but music composer A R Rehman is very well known. His fame will be further enhanced by the film 'Elizabeth II.'
Shekar Kapoor who directed 'Bandit Queen,' is one of India's well known directors. His talent got him the film 'Elizabeth.' Little known information about the British queen was the story line of this film. Despite controversies, the film was nominated for an Oscar and is proof of Kapoor's talent.
It's a few years since 'Elizabeth' was released. Now the second part titled 'Elizabeth II' is also to be directed by Shekar Kapoor. A R Rehman who has composed music for English and Chinese films, is the music composer for this film.
It somehow seems to have come about that any film with historic content has Rehman as composer. 'Lagaan,' 'Water,' 'Subash Chandra Bose,' 'Rang De Basanthi' and now 'Jodha Akbar' starring Hrithik Roshan have music composed by Rehman.. 'Elizabeth II' falls into this genre.
Will he continue to compose music for historical films?
"I am not seeking out historical films. It just happens that way."
Even his film assignments are the boons given to Rehman by god!
It was indeed a moment to remember for a group of Ranbir Kapoor's female fans when they were not just invited by the star personally to his bungalow but were also allowed to watch the first trailer of his new film 'Rockstar' along with him.
The girls were swooning! And so, we might add, was Ranbir who got to watch his 'Rockstar' promo for the first time in the company of the aam junta.
Seeing their reaction, he's now even more excited about the film's release.
Says a source: "Since he was in Kolkata shooting for 'Barfee', Ranbir had missed the first trailer of 'Rockstar'. Then director Imtiaz Ali finally sent the trailer over to Ranbir's bungalow.
"As Ranbir sat down to watch the trailer, he got to know that a bunch of girls who had been regularly standing outside Krishna Raj (Ranbir's home in Mumbai) for a glimpse of the star, even when he was in Kolkata, were at the gate again... Ranbir rushed out, hugged the stunned girls and invited them inside to watch the 'Rockstar' trailer," the source said.
The girls, apparently, have sworn they won't watch any other film before 'Rockstar' releases.
Interestingly, Ranbir's young fans, mostly of the fair sex, are known to stand outside his family bungalow at any given time. If he's home, Ranbir invites them inside. Sometimes his dad Rishi Kapoor goes out and speaks to them.
"But to invite the girl fans inside the bungalow to watch the 'Rockstar' trailer… that was a bit too much. Trust Ranbir to surprise even himself all the time," says the source.
Recently we heard that Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra seems unhappy about her intimate scenes with the Chinese star Xia Yu in the film The Desire. But when we saw the first trailer of the film, something else caught our eye.
Besides Shilpa’s cozying up with the Chinese actor, the trailer is also sprinkled with lesbian content. Model-turned-actress Sheetal Menon, who has earlier shot for Kingfisher calendar, is seen on a bed with another actress talking love and desire. Later in the trailer, the Konark temple imagery is used to signify the closeness between the two females.
Though the trailer tries hard to fascinate the audience, it fails miserably even with its sexual connotation and content. Shilpa’s sensuous bed scene, too, couldn’t spark a flame. Shilpa Shetty is in the US, and on Wednesday, attended New York City International Film Festival where The Desire was screened.
Here is the trailer of the film The Desire which has received Best Narrative Feature Film award at the Geneva International Film Festival.

The 32-year-old was very impressed with the theatrical trailer of Ranbeer's forthcoming movie ?Rockstar? and expressed her opinion in a tweet saying: "Really have to share this, 'Rockstar' is by far the best and the most captivating trailer that I have seen. A "timeless" romance is brewing between actors Sonam Kapoor and Shahid Kapur in their upcoming film 'Mausam', the first teaser trailer of which was released on Tuesday.
Sonam was excited about the trailer and tweeted saying that she hasn't slept a wink prior to its release. The trailer was received well by people in the industry and fans. Filmmaker Karan Johar tweeted "the Mausam promo is beautiful...promises to be epic in love and content...congratulations to the team!! Big love to sonam and shahid!!"
The chemistry between Sonam and Shahid is fantastic. Shahid had a rare experience of flying a multi-role jet fighter aircraft F-16 to adapt traits of a fighter pilot and only film actor to have flown that ultimate flying machine.
The actor had flown the American fighter aircraft at the AeroIndia defence exhibition in Bangalore earlier this year.
'Mausam' is directed and written by Shahid's father Pankaj Kapur under the Vistaar Religare Film Fund banner. The film will mark the first time that Shahid Kapoor has been in a film opposite his father, Pankaj Kapur.
Sonam said "We r loving all the positive reactions that #Mausam is getting! Keep them coming! Both @Sonamakapoor and @shahidkapoor worked hard on this!"
Shekhar Kapur’s Elizabeth: The Golden Age has received two nominations in 2008 Oscars.
India’s official entry for this year’s Oscars may have failed to make it to the grade but the 80th Annual Academy Awards will still have a couple of Indian connections.
Shekhar Kapur’s Elizabeth: The Golden Age has received two nominations -- best actress for Aussie star Cate Blanchett and best costume. Incidentally, Elizabeth, a sequel to Elizabeth: The Golden Age and also directed by Kapur, had won an Oscar in 1998 for best makeup (Jenny Shircore).
Also a nominee in best actress category for her role in Away from Her, Julie Christie has her roots in India. The veteran actress, who already has an Oscar in her bag (for her performance in Darling in 1965), was born in a tea garden in Assam in 1941.
Her father was the Manager of the Chabua tea estate. But the family left for London when Christie was six years old. This year, India’s entry in the foreign film category -- Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Eklavya - The Royal Guard failed to make it to the final five.
The first Indian to win an Oscar was Bhanu Athaiya for costume design in Richard Attenborough’s film Gandhi in 1982. Satyajit Ray was given a Special Oscar -- the Academy Honorary Award in 1992 -- for his contribution to world cinema. Actor Kamal Hasan has the credit of receiving the highest nominations by an Indian. Six of his movies have been sent as India’s official entries to the Academy Awards.
Salman Khan disapproves Don 2 trailer in Bodyguard
2011/8/24 4:51:12
Reliance's plans of releasing the Don 2 first trailer with Salman Khan's Bodyguard have been squashed. Thanks to lead actor Salman. The dabangg Khan refused to share screen space with his archrival Shah Rukh Khan in any way.
However, when it came to sharing the spotlight with Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt, Salman did not seem to have a problem. In fact, Sallu insisted on having Karan Johar's Agneepath trailer as a part of his forthcoming Eid release.
Salman had asked Reliance not to include the Don 2 trailer in Bodyguard. In fact, when the producers tried to reason things out with the actor, telling him that both films (Bodyguard and Don 2) belonged to Reliance, he retorted, "Bodyguard is my film as well."
"Salman and SRK are not friends. It was obvious that Salman will not want the trailer of Shah Rukh Khan's film attached to Bodyguard. Salman would have said 'No' even if he had a guest appearance in the film. His war with SRK is far from over," said a source close to the Sallu starrer.
The SRK-Salman war started on July 16, 2008 at Katrina Kaif's 24th birthday bash in a suburban nightspot.
A small argument turned ugly when SRK allegedly commented on Salman's ex-girlfriend Aishwarya Rai.
While SRK's Don 2 trailer has been left out from Bodyguard, his good friend Karan Johar's Agneepath promo has been included. And again, it was Salman who took the call. "It would have made more sense for Reliance to include the promo of Don 2, since it releases this December as opposed to Agneepath that releases in 2012. but since Salman wanted it, the producers couldn't refuse," revealed a source.
Explaining why Salman chose Agneepath over Don 2, a source said, "Salman has been bonding with Karan Johar of late.
According to industry insiders, the actor will work in the Dharma Productions venture to be directed by Rensil D'Silva. Also, Agneepath stars Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt, two actors who had once had a spat with Salman but are now close to him."
The final print of Bodyguard that releases this Eid will now have trailers of Agneepath, Luv U Soniyo and Hollywood film Real Steel. "There is neither a trailer or a promo of Don 2 in Bodyguard. Salman did not want any mention of the SRK starrer in his film," confirmed a source close to Sallu's film.

The inimitable Munnabhai and his funny sidekick Circuit are now headed to the United States in the third movie of the ‘Munnabhai’ series.
After taking on the medical system (in Munnabhai MBBS ) and spreading the message of Gandhigiri (in Lage Raho Munnabhai ), Munna and Circuit are now going across the Atlantic.
The idea to take the two characters into the US first arose when director Rajkumar Hirani saw Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi sitting together in a golf-cart in the US. The thought of two ‘bhais’ being transported to the US took Hirani’s fancy. When Dutt came to know about this idea, he liked it very much and asked Hirani to make a film on it. That is how Munnabhai Chale Amerika was conceived.
Even though Hirani and writer Abhijat Joshi are still working on the script, the film’s producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Hirani have shot a small trailer of the movie.
The trailer shows both Munnabhai and Circuit learning English to go to Amerika.
Hirani says he wants to take the concept of Gandhigiri further in the next Munnabhai film. Using Munnabhai’s trademark humour, the film will take on George W Bush’s principles.
The film’s trailer was shot at Karjat, near Mumbai, on January 25. Hollywood star Ralph Fiennes, currently in India, accompanied Chopra (his friend) on the sets during the shoot. Fiennes also met Dutt and Warsi.
The Munnabhai trailer will be shown with Chopra’s forthcoming movie Eklavya , which hits the theatres on February 16.
2010/10/6 10:22:58 ‘Robo,’ this four letter word virtually rewrites the records of Indian film industry with its amazing collections and overwhelming response from all over the world. Perhaps, this is the first movie from Indian film industry that stands par with any Hollywood movie in all aspects. Need not to say that Rajani’s Fans across the world are celebrating the success of their favourite hero’s film. Surprisingly, Japanese who admires him and love to watch his movies is grandly celebrating the success of Robo. It’s heard that some other nations also join these celebrations. Though, Bollywood took a little bit time to digest the southern success, now it also whole heartedly joins the celebrations.
Since, all the successful movie producers makes it a practice to auction the hero, heroine’s used items for helping the needy, Robo also follows the same path now. Rajanikanth and Aishwarya Bachchan’s dresses that they wore in Kilmanjaro... and O Baby... songs will be auctioned on line soon from Mumabai. Whatever, the amount generated from the auction will used for charitable purpose.
