New Delhi, Nov 21 (IANS) Mobile handset manufacturer Motorola Monday launched a slimmer version of its best-selling smartphone -- Razr -- in India. Priced at Rs.35,990, the best buy price of the handset is Rs.33,990.
The Android 2.3 smartphone is equipped with 4.3-inch super display, scratch-resistant gorilla glass screen, 1 GB RAM and a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, front-facing 720p HD video camera and 8-megapixel rear-facing camera.
The device also comes loaded with Motorola Motocast application which offers the power to stream or download content from a computer straight to the device.
It has work smart with smart actions -- a preloaded app on Motorola Razr which lets users automate everyday tasks and enable better battery life.
Smart actions can turn down the ringer when user steps into work, and change the Bluetooth and GPS settings when he gets home to save battery.
"One of the best-selling mobile phones of all time, the original Motorola RAZR redefined what a mobile phone was as people worldwide proudly flaunted their fashion items," said Rajan Chawla, mobile devices business country head (sales and operations), India and South West Asia, Motorola Mobility.
"With the new Motorola Razr smartphone we're bringing sexy back in a stylish and sleek body with the power to create experiences you won't find in any other smartphone," he added.
Motorola has launched what it called an "impossibly thin" Droid RAZR phone with a stainless-steel core, a Gorilla Glass screen and a nanotechnology Splash-guard that protects even the electrical boards inside.
Motorola Mobility's Indian-American president Sanjay Jha declared the 7.1mm-thick mobile device the world's thinnest smartphone. Not only is it thinner than other 3G phones, it will run on Verizon Wireless's 4G LTE network in the US.
In other countries, the phone will be called the Motorola RAZR. The details on international carriers and network compatibility will come soon.
With a 4.3-inch screen with qHD resolution, it will have higher contrast and richer color than iPhone 4S, said Jha.
Not only will it have an incredibly high-res screen and a powerful 1.2GHz dual-core processor, but it will be the "first device to download HD movies from Netflix".
On the software front, it runs Android 2.3.5, aka Gingerbread. It will not launch with Ice Cream Sandwich, the next version of the Android OS.
The Droid RAZR supports the webtop interface, like the Droid Bionic, Atrix, Photon and others, so one can dock it to one of Motorola's lapdocks, in order to run full Firefox browser.
The RAZR also has MotoCast, a syncing system that Jha called the phone's most important feature.
"You can stream content from your computer straight to your pocket (or purse) so your personal content is always within reach," according to a Motorola press release.
"And, because you don't have to upload to a third-party site, you're saving time while gaining peace of mind. That's right - your files stay safe because they stay with you." (IANS)

“Zayed makes fun of me. He’s a dear friend. And no, whatever I touch doesn’t turn to gold. But I have recently been presented with a gold Motorazr V3i Dolce & Gabbana phone. But the gold has nothing to do with me. The gold on it is what Mr. Dolce and Mr. Gabbana are responsible for.”
So how do you spend your free time?
I don’t get much free time, but if at all, I like to spend it at home with my family and dog. I haven’t had time for anything else, very sadly. I haven’t played basketball for years now, nor have I read a book. I try to read a bit here and there, but it’s mostly scripts.”

“Yes, he’s a Great Dane. He was gifted to me on my birthday. We call him Shanuk.”

“You bribe them very well and keep them on a payroll. Just joking. I’m just thankful. I don’t question it, simply enjoy it.”

“Great! Why not? Appreciation and love from any quarters is welcome. I’d be very happy.”
Touchwood, everything’s rocking for Abhi. So why do you look so worried all the time?
“Currently just one very small little thing is worrying me - the Motorola Sliver L7. That guy gets more attention than I do and I don’t like that. No, but it’s a great phone. It’s a little known fact that the commercials we did for Motorola stemmed from a true-life incident.”
You mean you actually got upstaged?
“Yes! However, Ididn’t try to pick-up two beautiful ladies; no such luck in that department. But there was this fan who came upto me and requested for a photograph with me.
All of a sudden he saw my phone and started discussing it and very conveniently forgot about the snap. That was the seed for the entire campaign. It’s a great phone and garners a lot of attention. It worries me. But I’ll be back!”

Revealing this, chief convener of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations Committee says, 'Like Vandemataram…, Janaganamana… and Maa Telugu Talliki…' songs, this song would also remain at high standards and could be rendered or playback during the film-related functions, like film launches, audio launches, 100-day functions etc., Even this song would be useful for the centenary celebrations of the Telugu Cinema after 25 years. Devisri Prasad had tuned the song and this would enthrall the audiences who participate in the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations from January 26 to 28.'
KS Ramarao further says, 'We are going to celebrate the function on a grand manner with a heavy budget costing more than Rs 1 crore. We asked the participants to pay an entry fee and everyone voluntarily responded to it. All the artistes, technicians, directors, producers, distributors, exhibitors responded immediately.
During a meeting that was convened at Annapurna Studios, the artistes and technicians announced their donations on the spot. They took the entry passes even for their followers and friends by paying the necessary entry fee. A total of Rs 1 crore was collected on that day alone.'

And here she is - back on the silver screen with a bang. She has done an item number 'It's Rocking Yaara Ishq To Karo' in the movie Kya Love Story Hai.
Kareena claims to have slimmed down a lot in order to fit into the character of an item girl. "You cannot miss the slimmer version of Kareena setting the screen on fire. Just when you thought you have seen her enough in various look of hers, Kareena is sure to surprise you with her dusky look this time," claims her publicist.
Now whether the item number is going to reap some benefits for Ms Kapoor is something which only time will tell us. But Kareena has for sure earned some good words for herself since she has done this item number totally free of cost favouring the director Lovely Singh she knows from the time he assisted Satish Kaushik.

The TRS has been reacting cautiously over Chiranjeevi's imminent entry into politics. The party wants Chiranjeevi to spell his stand clearly on the issue of separate Telangana.
The TRS is said to be ready to enter into an electoral alliance with Chranjeevi if he promises to back the demand for a separate Telangana.
It is understood that the TRS had sent some feelers to this effect through Nagababu. Nagababu's toured several places in Telangana. He has been getting good response everywhere.
The message is that the TRS is not averse to tie up with Chiru as and when he launches a political party.
