New Delhi, Nov 20 (IANS) Contrary to her image, Indo-Canadian porn star Sunny Leone chose to make her entry into the "Bigg Boss" house in traditional Indian attire.
The 30-year-old, who was born as Karen Malhotra, wore a heavily embroidered lehanga-choli and accessorised it with 'mang tika'. She made her entry into the house Saturday in a "doli", carried by eight men.
She also chose to dance on an Indian track "Chaliya Chaliya" from the movie "Tashan" after stepping out from "doli".
Vida's exit from the "Bigg Boss 5" had left the contestants sad, hopefully Sunny will lift the mood of the inmates.
Sunny's entry will be shown on Colors channel Monday.
New Delhi, Nov 17 (IANS) If it was Pamela Anderson who raised the mercury levels in reality show "Bigg Boss 4", this season Indo-Canadian porn star Sunny Leone is set to add fuel to the controversial show by making an entry Saturday.
"Sunny is coming down especially for the show and will enter (Bigg Boss's house) on November 20," a source from the channel Colors confirmed to IANS.
The 30-year-old, whose real name is Karen Malhotra, will land in Mumbai Thursday night.
Born to a Punjabi family in Ontario, Leone has appeared in various reality shows in the US, and was named among the world's top 12 porn stars by fashion magazine Maxim in 2010.
Leone was also approached by acclaimed Bollywood director Mohit Suri for his film "Kalyug", a film about the growing pornography industry. However, the role was ultimately essayed by model Deepal Shaw.
For the ongoing, fifth season of "Bigg Boss", there was buzz that international pop star Shakira or boxer Mike Tyson might join the show. But with news of Leone's entry, the speculations seem to have been put to rest.
Whether the adult star will be a long-term participant or a guest is still not sure.
"We can't confirm whether she will stay for long or just for two-three days. All we can say is she is coming to participate in 'Bigg Boss'," the source added.
When Pamela came to the show last year, it made for a jaw dropping moment for many. But it will be interesting to see how the mixed gag bag of the aggressive and argumentative celebs like Akashdeep Saigal, Amar Upadhyay, Siddharth Bharadwaj, Pooja Missra, Shraddha Sharma and Mahek Chahal in "Bigg Boss" will react to a porn star's entry in the show.

New Delhi, Nov 18 (IANS) She was born Karen Malhotra but is proud of her "alter ego" -- that of world-famous porn star Sunny Leone. In India to participate in "Bigg Boss 5", the Indo-Canadian says she is not just upbeat about spicing up the controversial reality show, but also about entertaining her Indian fans for the first time.
"I've been to India a few times. I was here in February and again came in May 2008... so I have been visiting the country on and off. But this is my first time here as an entertainer and I'm looking forward to a positive feedback from all my lovely fans," Leone told IANS over phone from Mumbai.
The 30-year-old, who landed in Mumbai Thursday night, will enter the "Bigg Boss 5" house Saturday night. But her entry will be shown on Colors channel Monday. Surprising, as it may seem, Leone claims she has been following this season of the show ever since it started.
"I've been seeing this show, episode by episode since Oct 2! It's really exciting, so I am more excited about meeting everybody in the house. While watching the show, it was a little hard to picture myself in there, but I think I will settle in well once I am there," she said.
Born to Punjabi parents in Ontario, the bisexual girl worked at a bakery before entering the pornography scene. She changed her name for safety.
"Sunny was one of my favourite nicknames. So I changed my name to it for safety reasons, for the fear of what I do. Not that I am scared, but this is just my alter ego and I love my alter ego," she said.
Leone was named Penthouse Pet of the Year in 2003 and she also signed a contract with adult video production company Vivid Entertainment. After featuring in several videos and adult films, she was named among 12 top porn stars in 2010 by Maxim magazine.
No wonder she is hoping to cause fireworks in "Bigg Boss 5"!
"I think the very fact that I am showing up on a show like this will make for a jaw-dropping moment for many people inside and outside the house. But I guess it would be interesting to see who knows me and who doesn't in the 'Bigg Boss' house.
"It would be fun to see how the guys react... because when most guys see me, they don't know what to do with themselves," she said nonchalantly.
Nevertheless, she admits: "I am as intimidated about their reactions as anybody would be."
Leone's family moved to the US when she was 13, but the curvaceous beauty can "speak and understand" a bit of Hindi and Punjabi in her 'pardesi' accent.
"Mujhe aati hai thodi bahut Hindi aur Punjabi! (I know a bit of Hindi and Punjabi)," she said, in her jetlagged, tired voice.
While in "Bigg Boss 5", Leone wants to do what she loves doing in India -- "eating Indian food".
She also hopes to try her hand at cooking. But even as many await to see what an internationally-known porn star has to offer Indian family audiences, one wonders what all Leone would do to spice up the already spicy show.
Priyanka Chopra who started her career three years back had signed a film called Gandhi, opposite Sunny Deol which actually was supposed to be her debut film. The project however got shelved and Priyanka was cast opposite Sunny in The Hero. That was the time when Sunny was a big star and Priyanka was just a newcomer.
But today, the situation is the other way round. After giving a number of hits, the latest being Krrish, Priyanka Chopra is now a famous star. On the other hand Sunny Deol isn’t much in news since a long time.
So when director Guddu Dhanoa who was to direct the film, decided to revive the project, it came as a humble gesture when Priyanka Chopra agreed to do the film and gave her dates. The film now has the entire original cast including Sunny Deol and Priyanka Chopra but the title and plot of the film have been changed.

While Hrithik suffered minor burns shooting for the scene, Priyanka escaped unscathed but her lehenga caught fire and had to be changed.
This is Hrithik's second accident on the sets of the Karan Johar production. He had hurt his hand while breaking a coconut earlier. His accidents have proved lucky for his films in the past. We wonder if it will bring luck to this one too.
A source recounts what happened: "Hrithik was shooting the Ganapati puja scene. He was holding a big thali with several lit diyas. Suddenly, one diya toppled over, spilling hot oil on his hand, scalding it.
Hrithik immediately rushed to apply ice on the affected area. When the crew understood, the shoot was immediately stopped. It wasn't a serious injury but Hrithik was in pain. He resumed shooting as soon as his pain subsided. He then joked about his injuries being lucky charms for his films."
On the second day of shooting the scene, "Priyanka's lehenga caught fire from the diyas and got burnt at the edges. She noticed it quickly and wasn't hurt but had to change her lehenga and wear a new one," revealed another source.
Hrithik and Priyanka were unavailable for comment.
It seems that Sunny Deol hasn't dubbed for the long-in-the-making The Challenge.
As one watches the promos of K.C. Bokadia's The Challenge, one gets a strong feeling that the voice one hears for Sunny Deol is not his own. Though one would love to hear otherwise, it seems quite apparent that someone else has dubbed for Sunny in the film in order to bring it to the completion mark and get it ready for the release.
The film has been in the making for around 4-5 years now and unlike Big Brother which was announced years back but the actual shooting took place only last year, it has been just the opposite for The Challenge.
The film carries an out and out dated look and feel and apart from Sunny, even Tabu, his leading lady in the film, too reminds one of the time when the two did Maa Tujhe Salaam together.
While Sunny would be seeing a new film of his, Fool N Final, arriving at the theaters on June 1, a week later even The Challenge is currently being lined up for release.

Interestingly, Sunny has given the film industry several talented directors including Raj Kumar Santoshi and Gurinder Chaddha(who made the aborted London for Sunny). "It's another matter that they've started with me and moved on," laughs Sunny mirthlessly.

"I directed Dillagi with my brother Bobby and me in the lead eight years ago .I've always been interested in being behind the camera. One may not have believed it if it was just a hearsay but watching it on screen makes you rub your eyes with disbelief when Sunny Deol is shown shaking a leg or two with Vivek Oberoi and Sameera Reddy for a promotional track of 'Naksha'. The song in question is 'U&I' that is written by Mayur Puri and set to tune by Pritam.
A western-bhangra-pop track sung by Sonu Nigam, Pritam and KK, it has a ready appeal for the club hopping youngsters and should be popular amongst campus crowds. The video is quite catchy too with Sunny paaji enjoying himself immensely in the company of young ones.

“The song had created a lot of flutter back then, but now the times have changed. Mallika has carried it off in style. Though it would be a challenge for anyone given the dancing capability and grace of Madhuri, but Mallika was very confident about it,” he adds.

Guddu Dhanoa's BIG BROTHER is slated for a April 13th release and the promotion is catching up heat too.
The film that also stars Priyanka Chopra, Danny and Farida Jalal starring in it has Sunny Deol donning two different looks.
So while he is seen in the trademark clean shaved look with the kind of hair style that he has been sporting post his directorial venture DILLAGI, in some portions of the film he would also be seen in a rough and tough persona. In this look, he sports a beard while his hair is let loose.
As per the demand of the situation where his character takes different shades, Sunny Deol's look changes in this action drama.
The film is special since it is after a while that a Sunny Deol movie would be released where he would be seen in his vintage action avtar.
Just when Sunny Deol is standing at a crucial juncture of his career with two big films releasing in four weeks' time, an age-old film of his is threatening to spoil it all. The fact is that his much-delayed film The Challenge is scheduled for release on 18th of this month.
Come June 1 and Sunny's brand new exciting film Fool N Final would make a global release. Four weeks later, that is on June 29th, he is expected to create fire works once again as he comes together with director Anil Sharma who brings the entire Deol family on screen for the first time ever in Apne.
With films boasting of such good credentials, it is imperative to expect a lot from Sunny this summer. But ironically this is the period that producer-director KC Bokadia has chosen for the release of his film The Challenge that was made four or five years back.
Co-starring Tabu, Farida Jalal, Ashish Vidyarthi and Govind Namdeo, The Challenge is one of those films that Sunny had signed in the wake of the success of Gadar - Ek Prem Katha. In the film, Sunny plays a Muslim character named Hussain, who is a truck driver by profession and gets caught in the web of deceit, conspiracy and back stabbing, as he ends up being labeled as a terrorist.
The film almost made it to the theatres many a time in the past, especially last year, but this time around, it looks like it will hit the silver screens as scheduled. It is planned for released on May 18 before the release of Sunny's two other big films.
Wonder if Sunny will be happy with this blast from the past!
2006/11/7 13:01:01 If a delay in the release of Sunny Deol starrer 'The Challenge' wasn't enough, there have been some latest developments on the film's front. Now it has gone through a title change and is called 'Sajja - The Challenge'.
Though the reasons behind a prefix being added to the film are not known, what certainly is unique about the film is that it is the first time ever that a name has been added to a title to make the latter appear as a tagline. Normally it's the other way round when a tagline is added to an original title, something that happened in case of Sajid Nadiadwala's 'Jaan-E-Mann' where 'Let's Fall In Love...Again' had to be appended overnight.
Let's see if this change in name changes the fortunes of this years old Sunny-Tabu starrer!
All those who had been missing Danny Denzongpa from action have a reason to cheer about.
After his comeback film HAT TRICK last Friday, he would be seen again on the silver screen at the end of the month. The film? BIG BROTHER!
Well, that's not the only reason to be elated. Because the fact is that BIG BROTHER also brings back Danny and Sunny to have a face/off, 6 years after they last confronted each other in the hit film INDIAN [2001].
Prior to that, both were seen in one of the most powerful roles of their career in Rajkumar Santoshi's GHATAK [1996].
Coming to BIG BROTHER, Danny plays a senior cop while Sunny is a commoner who rises up to be the messiah of an average man on street. Produced and directed by Guddu Dhanoa, this 30th March release also stars Shahbaaz Khan, Sayaji Shinde, Farida Jalal, Avtar Gill, Govind Namdeo, and Imran Khan.
Mukta Arts’ next venture in association with Ikkon Films P. Ltd.’s RIGHT OR WRONG, starring Sunny Deol, Irrfan Khan, Konkana Sen Sharma, Isha Koppikar, Kirron Kher, Aryan Vaid and Anjan Srivastav, started shooting from 5th September. The film is being written-directed by Neeraj Pathak.
Other credits include music by Monty Sharma, cinematography by Ravi Walia and costumes designed by Simple Kapadia. The film is slated for an early next year release.

This was evident during the shooting schedule of producer-director-actor Ammtoje Mann’s ambitious project Kaafila in Punjab recently, where a scene based on the illegal immigrants and inspired by the ill-fated Malta boat tragedy of 1997 was shot.
Says Mann, “We had almost 90 to 100 policemen all the time on the location. Yet they were unable to control the crowd. We provided Sunny two police jeeps with about 18 policemen all the time, in addition to the 30 policemen on day-and-night duty at the resort where he was staying. We shot in some far off locations to avoid the crowds yet people ventured out just to see him.”
The shy Sunny has for the first time been pitted with not one, but three foreign actresses, two from Pakistan — Sana Nawaz and Mona Lisa, and one from Bulgaria, Pauline. According to Ammtoje, who is also essaying one of the central roles in this film, Sunny does not play an illegal immigrant but a mysterious person who comes to the rescue of the ill-fated illegal immigrants from Asia, cemented by an invisible bond to help his distressed brethren.
Ekta Kapoor clarifies her forthcoming films are not as dirty as they are made out to be.
Balaji Productions' highly talked about film Ragini MMS' first look was launched by Ekta Kapoor yesterday at a suburban multiplex.
Ekta clarified, that Ragini MMS is not like Paranormal Activity as per the rumours doing the rounds.
On asked how come both of her forthcoming sensational films 'Ragini MMS' and 'Dirty Picture' (starring Vidya Balan as late south sex symbol Silk Smitha) revolve around sex, Ekta clarified, "I don't make films to please people. Both 'Ragini MMS' and 'Dirty Picture' are not porn films as they are made out to be."
However, both films have loads of sex and lovemaking scenes. The film is said to have footage of how young couples talk in their bedrooms too!
Ekta added, "Ragini MMS will be the scariest date movie in India so far. It has the ultimate catchphrase 'They didn't know it then, but it was a threesome!'
While Ragini MMS will release in May, Vidya starrer Dirty Picture is still under production.

2007/12/24 14:42:44 On Wednesday, the Kerala police unearthed a prostitution racket allegedly involving high profile people, with the arrest of soft pornstar Reshma along with six others from a house at Kakkanad in Cochin. Reshma, who ruled the Malayalam soft porn industry after Shakeela, was apprehended by the police along with six others, including two men. Police said that the flesh trade racket was operated in a rented house.
The police reached the house on the basis of information collected from the girls who were indulging in prostitution in the Kakkanad area, a booming IT hub in the port city. According to the police, the entire ring was being operated in a house that was taken by the parties for rent of about Rs 14000 per month.
Reshma was the queen of this ring too and there were two other girls, named Simran and Ramya who are regularly seen in Reshma's soft porn films. The girls would make nearly Rs 25,000 per night and half the earnings were taken away by their brokers in the name of 'managers'.
When the police arrested them, the girls were relaxing in the swimming pool. Reshma was planning to go to Bangalore that night by flight. The native place for both Reshma and Simran is Bangalore. Reshma reportedly confessed that she had been involved in prostitution for about three years now. The police have registered a case on them and began investigation.
