Producer: Yalamanchili Sai Baba; Director: Bapu; Dialogue Writer: Mullapudi Venkata Ramana; Music Composer: Ilayaraja; Cinematography: P.R.K Raju;
Rating: ****
Octogenarian director Bapu has been described as one of the top directors who specialised in making films that represented nativity, culture and richness of folk elements peculiar to the Telugu language.
Bapu and late writer Mullapudi Venkataramana teamed up to deliver classics like "Muthyaala Moggu", "Budhdhimanthudu" and "Andaala Ramudu".
Venkataramana died few months ago and this time Bapu teamed up with Ramana to deliver another classic called "Sri Rama Rajyam", a remake of 1960s Telugu hit "Lava Kusha".
While the Senior NTR, who dominated the Telugu film industry like a Colossus for more than four decades, had acted in the original film directed by C.S. Rao and Pulliah, Bapu's film has Nandamuri Balakrishna, NTR's son, in the lead.
"Sri Rama Rajyam" is one film that the Telugu film industry can be proud of. In these days, when everything is commercialised and films have an overdose of sex and violence, kudos to the producer to opt for a mythological film, which is made tastefully and with commitment.
"Rama Rajyam" is a well-known story, so it's a challenge to remake such a classic, but Bapu's good work turns the remake into another classic.
Bapu wins his first battle by picking up the right artists. Selecting legendary actor Akkineni Nageshwara Rao, contemporary of NTR, to play Valmiki and actress Nayantara for Sita's role are certainly worthy choices.
He chose to narrate the film in a peculiar style, a fusion of artistic and tasteful commercial elements. The art work and designing part is also perfect.
Ilayaraja's music is another major attraction. Dialogues and song lyrics are so good that you do not want to miss them.
It would be difficult to pick up holes in the films which appeals strongly to people who want to look at films that offer variety.
Balakrishna, Nayantara and Akkineni Nageshwara excel in their respective roles.
Balakrishna effectively portrays Rama and comes out as a winner, which seemed a difficult task considering his legendary father's portrayal of Rama has penetrated deep into the Telugu audience psyche.
Nayantara's swang song role as Sita is so good that you think she has opted for the best film to bid adieu to acting.
The two child artists have also performed very well. Other artists are sure to make an impact. Technically also film is strong.
"Sri Rama Rajyam" stands taller among mythological classics and may well set standards like other Telugu classics like "Annamayya", "Krishnarjuna Yuddham" and "Ramadasu"
Filmgoers, who look for classics, should not miss this film.
Move over Dookudu. It is now time for the Balakrishna film Sri Rama Rajyam to make waves. The film has already established its first record.
The first day first show ticket for the film has been bagged by a fan of Balakrishna in New Jersey for a record $6,000. This is the highest ever price for a ticket for any film in Telugu.

According to latest information, Balayya babu is planning to remake the yesteryear super hit movie ‘Nartanasala’ as his next project. If, his present film ‘Sri Rama Rajyam’ goes well then immediately he may start this project. The same way, if there is positive response for Nayanatara’s performance in the current film, then she may be inducted into his next movie as ‘Dhraupadhi’ a key character played by late Savitri. But, the film pundits states that it is not so easy to convince the audiences that the latest Nartanasala is par with old one, because one can not reach the standards set by late actors SV Ranga Rao, NTR, Gummadi, Savitri and many others of the old version.

Bapu, Mullapudi, Ilayaraja combines for ‘Sri Rama Rajyam’
2010/10/13 21:42:31 The most admired and successful team of the Tollywood, Bapu, Mullapudi and Ilayaraja joins hands to make a mythological movie ‘Sri Rama Rajyam’ starring Balakrishna and Nayanatara in the lead roles.
While Bapu will be directing, his long time associate and noted writer Mullapudi will provide the Story and Screen play for this movie. Music maestro Ilayaraja is giving tunes to this movie. Noted lyricist Jonnavittula is giving lyrics to all the songs of this movie. Yelamanchili Sai Babu is producing this movie. Currently, all these men are sitting for music discussions. The movie will go to sets in the next month. Speaking to the media, producer Sai Babu said ‘We are making this movie with the most popular concept known to one and all ‘Sri Rama Rajyam,’ which reveals how Lord Sri Rama has ruled his kingdom during his regime. Balakrishna, the only one actor who is capable to play mythological characters will act as Lord Sri Rama and Nayanatara enacts Goddess Sita character in this movie. Soon, we will announce the details of the rest of the team of our movie.” Any one, who goes through the latest gossips about Nayanatara and Prabhudeva’s illegal intimate relationship, will certainly condemns and disagree with the choice of the film makers, who plans to give Nayanatara the holy character of Goddess Sita. While, Goddess Sita has sacrificed her life for the sake of her husband Sri Rama and her people, here Nayanatara in her real life is forcefully entering into other woman’s family life and disrupting it. More over, she is not even bothered about the ethics or morals of the society, with which she set a bad example. Certainly, this factor is going to create many obstacles for the movie in near future
2010/11/16 11:21:49 There are two successful combinations in the upcoming film ‘Sri Rama Rajyam.’ The first one its director Bapu and his close friend and writer of the film story Mullapudi Venkata Ramana. This duo has been working together for several decades and one can’t imagine they work separately ever. This duo is making this mythological movie.
The second combination is of Balakrishna and Nayanatara. They have proved (with their latest film ‘Simha’) that their combination can do miracles for the movies. Balakrishna is acting as Lord Sri Rama and Nayanatara is acting as Sita. (Perhaps, one can’t avoid thinking about her immoral affair with Prabhudeva and her role in disturbing Ram Lath’s family life, when knows that she is acting as Sita, the holy woman.)
Rama Rajyam has total eight songs in it and recording of all those songs was completed. Jonnavittula and Vennelakanti have penned the lyrics. SP Bala Subrahmanyam, Sri Ram, Chitra and Shreya Goshal lend their voice to their lyrics tuned by music maestro Ilayaraja.
This film is produced by Y. Sai Babu under Sri Sai Baba movies banner. Briefing about the story line he said that, they have taken some important incidents of Lord Sri Rama’s regime and are trying to show the days of his ruling with this film. The regular shooting of this film will commences from 22nd of this month at Ramakrishna Studios, at Hyderabad. All other details about this movie will be announced very soon.
2011/8/5 10:00:34 Nandamuri Balakrishna fans who were quite upset with the failure of his PVC directed by Dasari Narayana Rao, is also worrying about his upcoming mythological movie ‘Sri Rama Rajyam’ which they feel doesn’t suits the current trends and may turn consequent disaster in this year. However, they are happy to know that he won prestigious Nandi Award for his Simha film under best actor category. This is 2nd time that he wins Nandi Award. He won the same award for his super hit film Narasimha Naidu.
Balakrishna has recently completed the dubbing work of his part for Sri Rama Rajyam movie and is busy with his other movie ‘Mahadeva Naidu’ directed by Paruchuri Murali. Balakrishna is playing triple roles in this movie. Lakshmi Rai, Charmi are the ones who romance with him in this movie. ML Padma Kumar Chowdary is producing this film under Keerti Combines banner.
While, Sri Rama Rajyam is expected to hit the screens in the next month, Mahadeva Naidu may release during the festive session.
Then, Balakrishna has one more movie ‘Hara Hara Mahadeva’ to be produced by Bellamkonda Suresh. This film may release during the Pongal festive time next year.
2011/11/14 18:07:33 The first ticket of Sri Rama Rajyam premier show was sold for $ 2,500 in US.

2011/6/12 8:39:51 No need to explain about the glory of the mythological characters like Lord Krishna, Sri Rama and Dhuryodhana etc played by late NTR. While, he enhanced the characters with his graceful performance, his richly designed costumes and ornaments further enriches those characters. Late NTR who has an eye for his costumes and ornaments has made them to perfection.
Balakrishna is the only one actor is capable to do mythological characters with ease in Tollywood. During the recent times he did a mythological movie ‘Pandu Rangadu’ and is now doing Sri Rama Rajyam under Bapu direction.
It came to know that, he is using the same crown that was used by his father late NTR in film ‘Lava Kusha’ for his upcoming film Sri Rama Rajyam. The release date of this movie not declared yet, but it probably will be released on or before Dushera festival that is 13th of September.
Nayanatara, who acts as Goddess Sita in this movie become very emotional after the last shot of the movie, was canned on her. She shreds tears and the unit members couldn’t console her. Because, she is going to settle as house wife with Prabhudeva soon and hence this would be her last movie in her life.
Nandamuri Balakrishna, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Srikanth, Mural Mohan, Nayanatara, Roja, Saikumar, K.R Vijaya, Senior Balayya, Brahmanandam and AVS have played important roles in the film.
